In the past few years I’ve become increasingly interested in energy. Energy is all around us and referenced in many forms. It’s a little surprising, really, that energy would be my thing considering physics was my least favorite of all the sciences, right up there with chemistry.

And yet, energy is undeniable. No scientist would argue with me here. But of course, the energy I speak of is more subtle and quite controversial. In fact, most people refuse to believe in the energy body, which means that almost everyone, even if they do believe it exists, ignore it.

It is my belief that the energy body is as vital as your organs for ensuring you live life to the fullest.

Even if you refuse to believe in the subtle energy body, you can’t deny that the food you put in your mouth gives you energy and that you feel tired, or boisterous or energized or exhausted at any given moment in your day depending on your activity and a whole host of other decisions you’ve made.

What you may not realize is that you have a lot of power and control over this energy; if you work out your energy body, you can start to feel like a million bucks exactly when you need it.  You can start to recognize the signs that you’re in need of some energy medicine and you don’t need a prescription or anyone else to prescribe or administer it.

The cool thing about energy medicine is that it’s harmless. Wave your hand over your body and you’re not going to get hurt or sick. You will potentially tap into an ancient healing mechanism that can change the course of your entire day.

The Chakra System

The chakra system is at the core of energy medicine and I’ve talked a bit about it before. Over the next six week’s we will be diving deep into the chakra system, learning how the chakras rule our energy and what we have the power to affect on our own using simple yoga poses.

Without going into book-worthy detail, the chakra system originated out of India right alongside yoga and is a core component in yoga philosophy. If you can successfully manage your energy and your energy body, you gain 85% of your healing power back away from doctors, prescription medications and someone else’s most educated guesses.

Today’s video is all about the first chakra. The first chakra is located at the base of the spine and represents grounding, survival, safety, financial security and self-worth.

It’s important to start with the first chakra, as it is here that you establish the foundation and baseline for the rest of your energy system. Without a sturdy foundation, the rest of the system will always come up against weaknesses.
