This morning was the Supermoon – the closest the moon has been to the Earth since the 1940’s. The next time the moon will be this close to the Earth will be in 2034.

If you weren’t able to see it this morning or last night, try to catch it this evening.

The moon is very bright, very large, and very full.

In fact, the past 3 months have been extra special, as there have been 3 months in a row with Supermoons.

In the past I’ve always encouraged setting aside time to revisit intentions at the solstices and equinoxes. These seasonal changes are great times to sit down and really sit with where you want to go and what you want to achieve in the next 3 months.

However, 3 months can be a long time to sustain motivation and inspiration. Using the full moons give you a great opportunity to sit down and revisit intentions once a month.

Clear negative energy

The full moon is a great time to clear negative energy from your life. There are many ways this can be accomplished. You can simply clean your house. This is a great time to tend to your altar as well if you have one and perhaps take away or add items of significance.

Journaling is another great way to reflect. Ask yourself questions like:

  • How do I wish to move forward?
  • What is it time to let go of?
  • Who do I need to connect with to move forward?

Meditation practice is a wonderful way to celebrate the full moon. Taking time to sit quietly in introspection and reflection is a perfect way to harness the lunar energy of the moon. When you listen closely, answers may become revelaed to you from within.

Sometimes studios offer special classes for the full moons. Sound healing, asana, chanting, and being in community are all great ways to celebrate this natural energy.

Full moons sometimes get a bad rap for causing craziness. There certainly is a lot of energy swirling around on a full moon, but if you harness it appropriately there are many ways that you can use the magnified energy for positive change in your life.
