I wrote a yoga book!!

I have a lot to say about yoga and sometimes it’s a lot different than what others will tell you, especially as it relates to beginners.

A lot of fellow teachers I know are afraid to tell beginners the truth about yoga. That’s because it’s scary.

But if you’ve been reading my blog or know me, you know that I kind of like scary things (it wasn’t always this way, by the way).

So I decided to do something really scary and publish my own yoga beginner’s guide that includes all that stuff no one wants to tell you.

For instance, yoga is very hard. Fact. But who tells a beginner yoga student that yoga is hard? When you walk into a studio, the owner or teacher is going to tell you that you’ll be just fine. I do it too. If you tell someone who’s been thinking about trying yoga that it’s hard, no one is going to try it, right?

Maybe. But I think it’s empowering to know that it’s hard. It makes me feel better when I don’t get into the pose perfectly the first time.

Also, yoga is about WAY more than the poses and this is where people get really squirelly. You came to yoga to lose weight right? Perchance. I did. What I found was an entire new perspective that changed my life. I think it’s a crime to not let you know what you’re getting into. And in case you’re wondering, the answer is no. YOGA IS NOT A RELIGION.

So now that the cat is out of the bag, does that mean you’re not going to go anywhere near a yoga mat? Maybe. BUT, you also now have a guide to help you along your journey. So there’s nothing to be afraid of. I got your back.

This book will:

  • Introduce and walk you through the most common beginner yoga poses
  • Help you understand the ins and outs of the practice
  • Answer practical questions
  • Introduce you to meditation and basic yoga philosophy in a fun, relevant way
  • Offer suggestions about what to bring to class, the unspoken rules of a yoga studio and much, much more

Plus, it’s only 30 pages.

This book is my take on yoga and serves as the foundation for everything I do. It will help you understand me better. It will help you understand you better. It will be something you can come back to over and over again.

So here’s the biggest, scariest part of all: it’s time to birth my ideas to the world.
